Let's take two teams X and Y in the tournament

Team X is better than team Y if X make it to a later round than Y. If they lost in the same round, X is better than Y if X lost to a better team than the team Y lost to.

Who is the worst team in the tournament this year (not counting the play-in game)?

Iowa

edit: It's quite simple, which team lost to the lowest seed in the first round. I didn't even have to look at the bracket to know that losing to a 14 seed NW State qualified them for this.

Iowa? just by following the losers backwards (UCLA, LSU, Texas, WVU, Nwestern State, Iowa), not sure if it's right.

Change "Interesting riddle" to "annoying logic tree" in your title.

You just look at the first round losers, and choose the biggest upset. Woopdeefreakingdoo.

iowa, they lost in the first round to a team that lost in the 2nd round (northwestern state), the 2nd round team lost in the 3rd round (west virginia), the 3rd round team lost in the 4th round (texas), the 4th round team lost in the 5th round (lsu), and the 5th round team lost in the final game (ucla).

it's not MSU because they lost to a final four team.

That's not how it works.
