my friend asked me this question the other day, and it got me thinking. I have an adsl home network setup at home. machine A(win2k) has two NICs, one is connected to the adsl modem and another is connected to a hub. machines b(xp) and machine c(redhat 9) connect to the hub and all have internet sharing. Machine A is running raspppoe to provide point-to-point service with the ISP. I dont think i have ICS enabled.

my question is, what is routing the packet? hope im asking the right question.

Maybe ICS is enabled and you don't know it.

Or maybe your to NICs are bridged and that is getting the internet on through.....is that possible?

how do i check if my ICS on win2k is enabled?

start -> run

"msconfig".. services tab.

Actually, really easy way to tell is to check your TCP/IP settings. If ICS is on, it will make your IP 192.168.0.1

If it is off, your IP is probably on auto assign.

My guess is you have winroute running. It was probalble installed with one of the nic drivers or if you have any pci to pcmcia adapters it usually ships is installed by default with the drivers...
