This notebook had been posted previously in these forums, but now you can buy it for less without an OS for $685 and $799 with Windows XP Home edition. It has a Via C3 667 mhz processor, and looks like a fairly good notebook. Plus look at these shipping costs:
Regular ground: $14.85.........2nd Day: $22.40..........Overnight: $30.40. Unreal!

This is being sold by AccessMicro......with a 30 day no questions asked return, and no restocking fee. Here is the link:

http://www.accessmicro.com/productinfo.php3?ProductId=NTBECMOA900A&rnd=1359274486

As I said, this was posted earlier........so, I am wondering if anyone reading this has actually bought one, and what they think of it. If it turns out to be as good as it looks and sounds, this could be a very hot deal!!!!!!!!!

Anyone bought this? If so, please post your comments/impressions/opinions.........it may help a lot of us make a decision regarding this!!

Thanks!!!

I NEVER buy used laptops unless it's A) factory refurbished or B) from an individual I know or lives locally.

For one thing, half the point of having a laptop is being able to use it on battery power (for most people) and in my experience over 50% of all used laptops end up with low or non-existent battery life. This one states that it doesn't even come with a battery (guess you wont know if one will even work unless you dish out the $$$ to buy it and a spare battery).

I know that they offer a 30 day return guarantee, but with it being so expensive/difficult to find replacement parts for most laptops (especiall screens), it's quite dangerous buying a used one that may already have problems with it. You might not even see most of the problems until you've used it for a few weeks. Add on the fact that most mail order places will still charge you shipping and sometimes restocking fees (I know, no restocking fee with them, but I hate having to pay shipping on something that didn't work right in the first place just to take a chance on getting another that doesn't work right) if there IS some thing wrong with it...it makes me shudder.

That said, I find that Best Buy has some excellent deals when you can catch an open box closeout model. I'm in the process of ordering a Dell Inspiron 8100 myself. If you would like to learn more about that laptop see THIS THREAD.

Just my $0.02

<< the thread title is shady. very sales pitchy. >>

I'm not paranoid!!!!!!...........THEY ARE COMING TO GET ME!!!!!

"Shady" and "very sales pitchy"???........usually you will find those kinds of things from someone who only has a few posts. I have a lot more than a few.

I just received an email from AccessMicro regarding this laptop for the 2d or 3d time.........I remember a previous thread about this same laptop........some criticized the CPU, and there were a few other observations not all of them positive.

Since I am in the market for a laptop, I thought I would generate another thread (because there was a difference in the price) and was hoping that SOMEONE WHO BOUGHT THE EFF'N THING WOULD TELL US WHAT THEY THOUGHT ABOUT IT!!!!!!!!!!!

Nothing more........nothing less..........just that!!

You a neffer?

This looks interesting, but the lack of a battery is a drag, unless you could find a reasonable source for one on e-bay. But also the C3 is a very low power chip, so a 667 c3 is probably like a 400 PIII, so this is really trailing edge technology. I'd pass for a brand name for a little more $$. Batteries can be very expensive.

I really am not trying to rain on your parade, but........

1. "I like my thread titles with prices/decription" just doesnt hack it. This is not your thread.....its mine. Do whatever you want with yours.

2. If you dont like the title description........dont look in!

3. I repeat, I was hoping to find someone who bought this laptop and could give some insight to EVERYONE AND ANYONE INTERESTED in this.......not just me, myself, and I. Sheesh!

4. The kind of feedback I was hoping to generate with this thread......for EVERYONE AND ANYONE THAT IS INTERESTED......was the sort of reply that android was kind enough to post. I think I will take his/her "advice" and keep away from this laptop, and continue to search for a better one.

Thanks, Android!!!

it says on there, if you would like to purchase a battery click here. its $60 for a nimh one which well sucks, but it should still give you 2 hours +. also a c6 667 is probably in the celeron 566 range of speed. its a shame, they are pairing such a crummy CPU with a 14.1 inch tft, but there is one good thing here. the c6 667 is a standard socket 370 cpu, and 133bus, so this means you can use basically any p3 desktop chip with 133 bus in this laptop.

I don't know why no one is looking at this deal:

» Compaq Evo N150
» Intel Celeron 700 MHz Processor 64MB SDRAM; 10GB HD; 56K V.90 Modem
» Removable Bay 24X CD-ROM; 10/100 NIC; 14.1" TFT Display
» Microsoft Windows
for $700 from insight.com

Link

I bought another 128MB of PC100 RAM from bestbuy.com for ~$40 w/ $10 rebate.

Cool to cold deal.
Add the battery and USB Floppy, and you'll need another $125 or so.
That puts this at over $800, ($770+ without floppy) and no DVD...
Forget about running XP on this 667MHz with 128meg. XP needs 120meg and 800MHz+ just to get going.
The Fujitsu that pops up regularly costs less, has everything included, plus has faster CPU, DVD, Lith-ion and O.S..

Why do you even have to respond with this comment? Keep it to yourself. He might be in the market for a laptop and trying to collect personal opinion/response for this particular laptop.

Oh?

I would like to report that XP pro is rather happily running on both a PII-233 and a K62-400, and crunching SETI@Home units faster then they were under either 2K or 98se.

Just my 2¢

P.S. I think that that is a pretty good price for a notebook, and most uses I would have for it are working with MS Office apps, so the processor speed sounds just fine for my needs / price range.
