Lord of the Rings, Battle For Middle-earth
STALKER: Shadows of Chernobyl
Vampire: Bloodlines
Splinter Cell X
Tiger Woods 2005
Madden 2005
Driver 3
Grafan
Painkiller
FarCry

If these all make it out this year PS 3.0 will have surpassed PS 2.0 games by a large margin in 9 months.

To be fair, it doesn't take much work to turn a PS2.0 game (at least on paper) into a PS3.0 one. It's unclear how many games will really be using the more advanced PS3.0 features (branching and/or extremely long shaders), and how many are just PS2.0 games that are being marked as 'PS3.0' because that's the latest and greatest technology out there.

Since 95% of Videocards on the market still will have PS2.0 max for the next year (unless ofcourse it will be supported in mid/low end cards aswell) I doubt that it will have much impact.

IIRC, PS 3.0 "patched" is just "a better way to do PS 2.0" ... in a manner of speaking, "the shaders don't have to shade as much".

I think all games use "a little of this" and "a little of that" kind of hybrid approach.

Yeah the patch 1.1 is supporting ps3.0 for the new cards

Although Tom's review said FarCry was still detecting the new 6800 as a 1.1/2.0 shader capable card. I imagine this will be ironed out with nV drivers or another FarCry patch.

FYI at the launch the Far Cry dev said it took them 3 weeks to add PS 3 support in.

A good summary. PS 3.0 can do a lot of things that would be unreasonable using PS 2.0, but nothing the 6800 has the muscle to show off(talking PS 2.0 v 3.0 here, VSs are a bit different). The big advantage for the most part will be PS 3.0's ability to do the exact same thing with less work.

I wouldn't even consider for a second a game purchase based on whether it did 3.0 or not.

Any list is meaningless.

I buy games that are fun.

Very cool. Strange though. Tom's Review of the 6800 said it was still being detected as a PS1.1/2.0 device. Maybe they updated something already...

Did you by any change read the AnandTech article? :D

Some screenshots with ps2.0 vs ps3.0 would be nice in the near future IMO, to see for ourselves

What a shocker that most if not all of those are TWIMTBP games. Marketing dollars hard at work.

Getting the job done apparently as it looks like there will be more PS 3.0 games out this year than PS 2.0 games.

If you want the advantage you need to pay the money it seems. ATI could have done it but instead decided to drop millions on a fat slob who cant even protect his network from the hax0rs and thus delayed the game for a year or more. Though I still have my doubts that the hacking event was the sole reason for the delay ;)

Sorry, but debuting a decently performing DX9 card 18 months after the first such card doesn't constitute "getting the job done"--at least, not moreso than ATi. It's obvious the leap from SM2.0 to SM3.0 isn't as great as that from DX8 to SM2.0, so I'm sure many SM2.0 games will add on SM3.0 support at minimal cost. I don't think that list allows you to conclude nV is responsible for pushing DX9 games out faster than ATi. I think it's more accurate to say ATi's DX9 hardware showed up well ahead of the DX9 software curve, whereas nV's DX9 hardware showed up right on time.

AFAIK, all SM3.0 games will also be SM2.0, so saying that there'll be more SM3.0 than 2.0 games this year is just wrong.
