I just got my Barton 2500+ on an Abit NF7-S, with 512Mb of Mushkin PC3500 Ram. The old processor I had in my computer was a AMD Thunderbird 850mHz. I was thinking of placing the old processor in my new setup and seeing how far I can take it :) Would this work? How high do you think I could get?

300mhz-500mhz at the outside off that 850 with 2.1v or less. Waste of time though since it's still an old T-bird core, but the amusement factor might make up for it. Be sure to bench it out and shoot for as high a FSB speed as you can. IIRC you can unlock that CPU with a pencil so you can drop the multi and pump it up to 400DDR or higher dual channel synch mode.

a 2500 barton with pc3500? i don't see the point of the pc3500 on a barton, there's no point of having pc3500 with a processor that won't go higher than 230 (and that's with the best of the barton's).

THe reason I got PC3500 Ram was because it was cheaper and just about the same quality as the Corsair XMS, PC3200. It has the same timings and everything. I'm very happy with the purchase.

PC3500 is rated to 217 MHz (434 DDR). Some people are claiming to run Bartons at ~250 MHz (500 DDR).
