As im sure many of you know, i've been having issues with my cable/cable modem the past few days... Finally got a stable signal after i replaced the modem, only to have it die again last night.
Cable tech came to the house today, very nice guy who just got out of the marines not too long ago. Nevertheless, after checking my signals, he mentioned that he has seen alot of tv tuner cards backfeed into the system, causing the modem to lose signal.
The way i currently have my cable modem setup in the room is:
Wall -----> 1000mhz (-3.5db) dual splitter
(1)------> Cable Modem
(2)------> TV Tuner Card
Sure enough, unplugging the cable to the tv tuner fixed the problem. Didn't disconnect the splitter, didnt touch any other cables, just the one from the splitter to the tv tuner.
Anyone heard of this before?
He even said that occationally, he's seen tv tuner cards backfeed bad enough to cause modems on the other side of the house to lose signal (or at least harm it)...
