Interesting F-18 crash pictures

now what happens if there is pilot error, and a plane is totally wreaked... shouldnt that pilot foot the bill.. 😛 seeing those planes cost millions of $$$.

<< They sign a waiver before flying so they don't have to pay for anything they break 😉 >>

oh, really? cool... hmm.. maybe i should reconsider and join the air force.. 😀

That's a tough decision to make: whether to eject and junk the $ mil airplane (hey, you can ebay the engines and avionics) or land the damn thing and risk a crash.

<< My GOD they were lucky. >>

Maybe this is just for commercial aircraft, but don't the wings of planes generally serve as fuel tanks? If so, they're very lucky that that didn't rupture. The plane with the torn wing would have been a fireball.

I wonder how the hell that happened? It's hard for me to envision a situation in which the nose of one plane would come so close to the wing *and* vertical stabilizer of another. Especially in such a way that it would completely knock the nose off of the first one. Maybe they're simply not attached as well as one would think?

I bet the guy in the one missing the nose, had to get a new flight suit. They'll never be able to get that smell out. I would have shat my pants if I were him.

If either one had an excuse to bail it was him.😀

didnt tom clancy once report that an F15 eagle can fly with only 4 feet of wing on each side? i think most aircraft are designed to a point where a good chunk of the wing can be shot off and still be airworthy.

oh, and military fighters dont really have fuel tanks in the wings, thats not a very good idea when:

A: You've already got the wing loaded down with several tons of munitions

B: When some of those munitions are rockets and missiles, which can create an immense amount of heat quickly which may or may not vaporize enough fuel to rupture something vital

Seriously, the reason they probably didn't eject is because, ejecting is actually pretty painful, they would probably rather belly-land a plane than have to eject.

Quality planes and quality pilots(if you ignore that it may have been pilot error to cause the crash in the first place).

Hey, hey Slider, what happened? I thought you wanted to be a pilot.

Goose, whose butt did you kiss to get in here anyway?

The list is long but distinguished.

Yeah, well so is my johnson.

You figured it out yet?

What's that?

Tower, this is ghost rider requesting a flyby.

Negative ghost rider, the pattern is full.

That was some of the best flying I've seen yet, right up to the part where you got killed, you never ever leave your wing man.
