Here's a picture:
Pic

I assume it shows the corruption, I can't see it with all of the corruption that I have. ;)

During POST I get weird things like the card not showing certain characters, or it showing thousands of "2"s or "Y"s with dots over them.

Is there anyway that I don't have to RMA this?

More pics:

It's 2 mania...
2 mania...
That's for sure...

And it's 2ing like it's never 2ed before.

it's either a bios problem or video card frying. odd though cause artifacts usualyl dont look like 2s.

Card is definitely going bad. I had a 5900 card that exhibited those kind of symptoms. they went away after getting a better power supply, but then reappeared a week later. Had to RMA finally.

Good Luck :)

Me too. 22.5 hours at work. I come home to game during the week of free time I get per year.

Turn on the computer... 22222222222222222222222222222

I just had a 7800GTX overnighted. Bye bye Hurricane Katrina check.

It could be the video memory getting too hot. The heatsink screws are not placed optimally imo (are you hearing THAT Leadtek!).

If you don't mind getting your hands dirty. Take off the hs, wipe off the generic white goop which is on the memory chips and replace it with AS5.

Or if its too much work for you, just tighten the 4 screws a little on the hs because the thermal pads may have been squashed a little. The springs are supposed to compensate but imo its too little tension. I'm 90% sure just doing this is sufficient.

Well, it does it when it's cold. It will start 2-ing instantly when I turn it on.

Perhaps it's hinting that it has to go #2? Pull it from the machine, take it for a walk outside, and after it's done doing it's business, it should be fine! ;)

You shouldn't put AS5 on memory.

Definitely need a new monitor. I can't believe you have a $300 graphics card ($450 replacement) and that crappy old monitor.

Are you high? That's a 21" Trinitron tube wonder. It'll do 1600x1200 @ 85Hz wonderfully (that's what I run mine at).

That's an IBM P260. Flat screen. 21". 2048x1536@77Hz. 1600x1200@99Hz.

It's one of the finer CRTs out there.

Yar, it is. I built a PC for a client with one of those, it cost about as much as a 7800GTX back in late 03.

about the card, yeah, I think its toasted. some kind of hardcore leakage problem with the memory.

Is it under warranty? If it is, send it back.

If it's not, I'd remove the heatsink and reapply thermal pads/grease/whatever, or just buy an aftermarket cooler like a Silencer.

(I gotta ask.. gorgeous 21" flat screen, running at... what? 800x600? You should be in jail, boy.)

this sucks, i just ordered a leadtek 6800gt agp last thursday, and it should be here tomorrow. there's supposedly a bad batch with memory problems in revision A1. supposedly the problem was fixed with revision B1, revision A1 had the bad batch of memory that were causing all those artifacts.

do google search about the leadtek 6800gt/bad batch, and you'll see all kind of posts complaining about it and a lot of rma's.

They're going to let me RMA it. I probably will after the holidays.

Newegg is taking its sweet time processing my order. Apparently FedEx can't overnight it to me, so I told them to try UPS. No word yet and it's an 80 mile one way trip to my address to go get it.

As far as the 800x600, it's because my card is messed up.
