The person is right about the end result of SS, but is wrong about a lot of stuff in there. Our Government intentionally makes things incredibly difficult for the average person to follow. They are screwing the American people over in almost every way and they know it. The average person doesn't know this because it's almost impossible to decode the system. SS would NEVER work period. There is no way that SS could ever possible work in it's current form. No only that, but the Gov't never even put the money it collected into a trust fund. It spent it all on whatever it felt like as if it were normal tax money.

In my oppinion, SS should be done away with ASAP. You have to start somewhere and no matter what you do, a large group of people are going to get the shaft. If people don't save, it's their own fault. There are many retirement funds out there and almost every major company talks to their employees about it. If you are too stupid to save, you don't deserve to live that long. That's the way America works. That's also the way nature works too. Survival of the fittest. The stupid people should be weeded out anyway.

if it had put all the money into some sort of savings account and not spent it SS would have been a tremendous drain on the economy

Hasn't SS been around for some 70+ years.

Also, I thought it was meant to be a supplement to your normal pension.

People who don't save for retirement deserve what they get.

If we and our employers, didn't have to put thousands of dollars into that abortion of a government program, we could easily afford to sock money away for a decent retirement.

Don't forget, vote for the party(s) that support privatization. It's a solid first step in getting rid of this BS program.
