Interesting article on FiringSquad

Link to article.

Having read the above article, I must admit that dual-core processors, with one core for x86 and one core for a new architecture, does sound promising; it's certainly an easier way around the problem of backwards compatability and writing for an entirely different architecture.

Who knows what the future holds 🙂

Hopefully the people developing new technology/hardware know what the future holds. 😀

It is exciting though, to think about what is gonna come out in my lifetime.

Very true; I cast my memory back to my first PC, which had a K6/233, and now look at the overclocked 2600+ that runs my machine, and I'm shocked at just how far we've come. Everything for the PC has improved with a huge order of magnitude, and I've no doubt that things will change massively over the next few years.

Should be interesting 🙂

Check this out.

Awesome.

yea i remember those ugly days when intel gouged like crazy. ugly times.... i buy amd now..gotta keep it a contest.

IMO, that article is clueless troughout.
Statements about AMD vs Intel competition and history, are not accurate for one thing.
But, - this is my point - people who are assuming x86/x86-64 needs some kind of complete replacement, or assume that there are any gains in a such replacement, are wrong.

I think the 'Farcry 2.0' picture is a very good representation of what is to come over the next years....
