A few landlords around me have gotten burnt by renting to a Chinese restaurant owner only to have their place destroyed by the 20 workers living there.
Didn't read the article but I know at many of the Chinese restaurants around where I drew up had tiny little apartment/motel looking buildings directly attached to or adjacent to the place. I always assumed they lived there and basically spent 8+ hours 7 days a week working and living in those dumps, with probably 10 of them living in a 1 or 2 bedroom space.
The one in my area the owner gets young girls from asia to work for him then they rent a room in his house. He made his basement into tiny apartments and now he has 9 people living in his home and they all work for him.
