is this for anandtech.com or for forums.anandtech.com? and what is their methodology?
Methodology:
A) throw darts at dart board
B) make up gobbledy-****** sentences describing some ficticious methodology
C) sell services to people willing to part with their advertising dollars
If they were throwing darts at a board, I think they did pretty well.
- Disproportionately large asian population
- Educated
- Tending toward more extreme political views (liberal seems a bit low, but some people are more outspoken than others)
- Strong preference for BMWs. Dodge seems high, but the other American brands are apropriately low. Not sure why Honda and Toyota aren't listed.
- Strong preference for foreign cars over domestics
- Porn (although I'm surprised by how many pay for it)
- Relative lack of girlfriends as evidenced by lack of purchases from Victoria's Secret
- Extreme hatred of AOL and Netscape
- Extreme preference for Google (considering how much Google dominates web search, it amazes me that we are able to nearly double the Internet average here)
- Heavily slanted toward the male gender
- Read computer magazines
- Use RSS feeds
If they just made the numbers up, they at least put some thought into it. I think all of the statements above describe the Anandtech population pretty well.
I think a lot of people are making the mistake of thinking that those numbers are comparable to each other - i.e. Asian vehicles are <1% more popular than European vehicles here. That's not the case. Asian vehicles are much more popular overall than European vehicles, and both of them are more popular here than in the general population - with Asian vehicles still more popular than European by a large margin.
Each number must be taken on its own. It's confusing, because they're arranged in logical, related groups.
