Hey gang,

As I'm sure several of you are already aware, the scientists responsible for the Folding@Home client recently added Coronavirus/COVID research to the project.

Meanwhile, my moles in the Future office have told me that the Tom's Hardware staff is thinking of having a go at it - and a go at us.

So to put it simply, would you guys be interested in a F@H Coronavirus race against the Tom's Hardware team? This way we can do some good and maybe find some new ways to treat COVID... and remind the Tom's crew why AnandTech is (and always will be) #1.;)

Hey V.... boss ;)

A mate of mine sent me a link about the F@H, corona project, I plan to switch to F@H at the end of the month once SETI has gone into hibernation (or sooner if it runs out of WUs before that).

So yea, I'm up for that! Can't let THG get the better of us! :p
Btw, I hope you're crunching ;), I'm sure you could get your hands on some serious firepower!:D

I sure am. Speaking for number 20 in the world for F@H..... And about 18.5 million ppd, you bet !

But what I don't know is how to select that. Is it a CPU project ? As far as I knew there was no way to select one type of task, just CPU and GPU.

Edit 11741 is one of them, and I already have 4 computers working on that, 3 2060's and a 2080ti at current. So it just by project number. 11741,11742,11743,11744,11745

Edit2: also 11746, and I have 6 computers working, 4 on the 11741, and 2 2080ti's working on the 11746

The news is so depressing to read these days, so it's nice that us commoners now have some tools to fight back! Currently processing the last WU on GPUGrid and will move my 1060 to F@H soon.

EDIT: Crunching on F@H now and pulled a 11746 as my first WU.

Thank you all for your patience as we spent a week deciding on how to best use the awesome extra power we've gotten from all you folks wanting to help out with the coronavirus effort. We've settled on 6 projects for now, and there's a lot of new biochemistry data coming in that we'll most likely set up more projects with.

Here are short descriptions of the projects -- we're finalizing the draft of a more detailed blog post right now. In general, we're looking for alternative conformations and hidden pockets within the most promising drug targets, which can only be seen in simulation and not in static crystal / cryo-EM structures. There's some very fresh drug screening data coming out now for some of these, which we'll use to validate the simulations and help direct the screening efforts -- collecting as much data, as rapidly as possible will be crucial, and thank you again for making that possible!

All projects are using the new OpenMM GPU Core22.

Haven't done this in years but interested in helping solve Corona. Loaded it up on both systems and it would seem neither are working on Corona project. Any way to force this?

In fahcontrol, you can choose cancer, Huntington's, Parkinson's or Alzheimer's. No option for coronavirus that I know of.

well, for some reason, something happened overnight, and all of my crunchers say "No WUs available for this configuration"

For now, just keep the default to run all projects.
If you receive work units with project numbers 11741...11751, then you are kicking Covid-19 in the butt.

I have a dual-GPU computer running F@H today, and it got stuck with "Empty work server assignment" during the last few hours. I restarted the client to no avail. :-|

Edit, from a look into the folding forum, it seems the assign servers are quite crowded at the moment.

I think its only 11741-11746, at least thats what the link says.

We are so close to 6th or even 5th on the WCG race, I added a 2990wx !
