Not sure how much of a demand there would be for these, but I think it's an interesting idea. Basically, it would put a 1 GHz Pentium III, GeForce graphics card, up to 512 MB of RAM, and a 12.1" TFT display in an acrylic box about 11"x10"x4". In other words, a system that could easily be carried to LAN parties or around in your car without getting damaged. It wouldn't be a laptop since you'd still need external power, but for people like me that always travel from house to house, it might be cool. I'm thinking a price of around $1500 for a total system (including TFT display). Would anybody else be interested in one of these? PM me with suggestions, I think I've got something here.

Don't let me rian on your parade but most lan party goes I know don't have $1500 for a spare computer to ride away and be used once or twice a month. Most don't mind carrying around 19"+ monitors and wouldnt dream of using anything less ;)

I agree with Soybomb, I'd go through the trouble of carrying my stuff around rather than spend $1500. Not a bad idea, but it would be too costly.

It's especially gratifying to take your 19" monitor to a lan party when most of your friends don't have one :D

How about $850? I mean, that's what I'm trying to figure out by posting this, is what the right price point is. The $1500 was for a P3 1 GHz, 512 MB PC133, 80 GB hard drive, GeForce card, CD-RW/DVD combo and TFT.

Its gonna have to be free to appeal to alot :) Most lan party goes I know are college kids. College kids traditionally don't have alot of disposable income to throw at another computer, they'd rather upgrade their current one a time or two, buy a new game, fill up on gas, eat for another week, and buy a new cd with that $850 ;) I think if you really want to make a go of something like this you need to look into something to make their dekstop more portable like a cat5 cable on a spring loaded reel, mouse and keyboard carrier or something like that :D

Everyone always says: "Wow that is soooo huge..." (full tower and 19" monitor)
"What do you need all that room for?"

I love it;)

I want to put a PC into an old Mac Classic case and replace the screen with a small LCD...think it can be done? Probably not, but imagine the looks on peoples' faces at a lan party when you walk in with your whole computer in one hand.
