Interconnects in Crossfire

It is needed to place both interconectors for the 3870? I hear some rummor around that only one is needed to make them work properly??? any true on that?

the catalyst AI have to be on in order for both cards to work?

I was playing with AI disable and only the main card shows work %... the second one dont even get heat up... not sure what is going on, but the crossfireX option is on

Catalyst AI should ALWAYS be ON and set to at least Standard- but I leave mine on 'Advanced' forcing AFR. Cat AI is required for Xfire to function properly.

tested 3 games

Guild Wars runs great with Advanced AI....
Medieval II runs great with Advanced AI....
Unreal Tournament 3... well.. that one start complaining about an error and close with Advanced AI.. but seems to work a bit better with Standard....
Fury.... that game is a bit mess up by itself all the way around lol.... dont count that as a test

Dunno what is going on

I see the pictures.. and yeah the X2 only have room for one... which is kinda strange.. because the 3870X1 have two of them.. dunno for what is the second one for

The extra connector is for when you are running more than 2. First card links to second, second to third, third to fourth.

i use both .. there is no disadvantage
[afaik - i got better performance with 2 over 1 in my FrankenFire]

i never thought of it that way .. i just got another blue LED .. 🙂
OK .. i will now get an acrylic side-panel for my case

thanks!

[the 2nd interconnect bridge actually made a positive performance difference in my own situation 😛]

oh!.... but seriously.... is there any benefit from connecting both connectors... or placing the second one is a hindrance for the cards?? I just wonder because I test with one.. and notice no difference at all... but it can be different on another system.. right?

run a few tests yesterday at night with both standard and advanced... and they are almost the same... around 11k... for me...

if anyone found different or know how to make the score go higher... plz.. tell....
