The fatal mistake Pat made was pretending to spend money like Intel had unlimited coffers and almost no competition. He returned to Intel out of PURE GREED. His heart was not in the right place. He did not have a winning mindset. A person with that mindset would not have accepted Raptor Lake, Meteor Lake and then finally Arrow Lake. At the first sign of trouble of Raptor Lake oxidation and degradation issues, heads should have rolled. They certainly would have if someone like Lisa had been in charge. You do everything you can to encourage your employees but when they make a grave mistake, you have to make the hard decision to let them go so that those who remain, know that this CEO doesn't F around.

Products take damm long to make if he didn't launch MTL/ARL/RPL there wouldn't be any product for revenue and those were midway in the cycle.

He did not try to get any of those products fixed. He was hoping that he could just sweep these products under the rug and take the glory for Nova Lake. And now Nova Lake will either be very successful or it will get screwed due to too many essential employees being axed (but maybe they hire more competent ones to replace a few of the lost ones).

If you try to fix them it's at least a 3-6 month delay as for NVL his success or failure was defined under pat so if NVL is good you have to say at least "pat did a good job with NVL" 🙂.

So it was good business sense not to recall the Raptor Lake CPUs to boost consumer confidence, make customers jump through hoops to get RMAs and let their reputation degrade to the point that people with any sense started avoiding their Intel 7 fabbed CPUs and started promoting the competition everywhere?

Also, did Pat learn in business school that it is always a good idea to release half baked products rather than delaying them a bit and ironing out all the wrinkles because customers just LOVEEEEE to put their fingers in half baked pies and get diarrhea?

Recall and then redo the binning to resell them as different models or whatever. Don't leave the customer in doubt and ultimately end up with a mentality to avoid the risk altogether by avoiding the product.

The end of Arc maybe, but hopefully we’ll get some really cool new APUs on a node that works—especially for the handheld space.

For data centers, Intel will build NVIDIA-custom x86 CPUs that NVIDIA will integrate into its AI infrastructure platforms and offer to the market.

So Nvidia is kinda saving money by not having to do R&D and other associated costs for maintaining their own CPU.

It also tells me that Nvidia is pretty pissed at Mediatek.
