Wonder how the conversation went that led to Holthaus leaving.

LBT: Why isn't there HT in Arrow Lake?

Holthaus: The architects decided it wasn't worth wasting time over.

LBT: Do you have any idea how it makes Intel look to have only 24 threads vs. 32 from AMD?

Holthaus: But ours are real cores. Half of their compute threads are virtual SMT threads.

LBT: Optics matter!

Holthaus: Umm, maybe they do. Maybe they don't. Sales have been good. People acknowledge that we have a strong product.

LBT: Sales have been good??? Not being in the top ten of Amazon sales is good???

Holthaus: *silence*

LBT: I have to do what's good for the company's future. Pack your stuff up!
LBT: What do you mean you aren’t respinning Pentium 4 on 18A?

Engineering Team:…

LBT: You’re fired!

Intel top management was littered by cringe DEI female executives. LBT is cleaning the house. Michelle Johnston Holthaus being the latest to go.

PS: Other executive appointments:

PPS: Intel future is no longer technology, but politics now?

Anyone using "DEI" these days immediately loses credibility in their arguments.

If you can point to specific decisions made by her that were (obviously) in error, then go ahead at level criticism on the technical merits (or lack of) in that decision.

Otherwise, you're steeping your argument in misogyny.

There are a bazillion incompetent (white) male CxOs and yet we never call them DEI hires.

Shit, I'll run Tesla for a fraction of what Musk is being paid and I'm pretty sure I could get better results.

Ouch! Surprised this post wasn't blastest into the ether. I thought she was qualifified but perhaps not. There is no shortage of (usually) women posting on Tik Tok "A Day in The Life" while doing almost no work. "Adult day care" I've heard it called.

Oops, forgot this was moved to P&N.

To hell with DEI. If I need a surgeon I want them to be merit based, not some fill a quota person. If the person falls into the DEI crowd, great! If not, also great. I get the best care possible either way.

I don't think it's only due to ARL it's also due to moving Tile to TSMC N2 from Intel 18AP as well

"No DEI"
Ok, so fewer (white) men in positions of privilege and power
"No, not like that!"

"Merit" as it is currently used is basically a proxy for wealth.

Who do you think will score better in school and lead a "successful " life? A child who has access to infinite resources including study tutors for every possible topic, or a child who is wondering whether they will have breakfast on the table tomorrow?

The current POTUS and RFKJr. are literally posting children for the real "DEI hires" being rich, incompetent white men.

Evidence of surgical positions being handed out to "fill a quota person"? Medical schools and then specialty residencies are incredibly competitive.

Massive inequality sucks.

Thank you for reminding me why I don't post here.

I would hope so, but not all fields are. Hell Joe Biden himself said his supreme court pick had to be a black woman. Why make it political? Just appoint a qualifed black soman and be done with it.

So you agree your DEI surgeon example was baseless?

Why be political in a political campaign is an interesting question........

So DEI is a short term effort for increasing the pool long term, you get that right? For a target demographic - for example; establishing a culture among white people of operating an abacus too so not ALL the stem jobs goes to Asians forever.

We know you been called dumb and stupid, real dumb and real stupid, your hole life "white boys cant count" and so on, you probably havent even had a chance to finish school real good either.

But we know you as good at counting as anyone else - if you just get the chance to prove it. So we going to help you break this circle we put your people in. Poor white people. Will help you count again.

(see? I *AM* a comedian).

I wish Intel would appoint me as CEO due to DEI. Never been an Igor_Kavinski CEO at Intel. Give me my chance, Intel!

Anyhow, I will only work remotely. They can provide me with StarLink. And give me a satellite phone for urgent calls.

They will have a six hour window every day to interact with me. Outside of that, I'll fire off emails and stuff but they have to wait for the communication window to be sure to get an instant reply back from me.

Accepting stupidity is why America is currently butt fucking its own citizens.

There is always inherent bias, The fact you guys run to DEI not the far more prevalent ones like nepotism which for example is basically the entire US fraternity structure is the tell.....

Nepotism is the worst. It never ends well and I've seem some boneheaded examples. I'm wary of family owned businesses. But what is worse, nepotism or stock buybacks like Intel? They all suck.

How do you guys think that the government's partial ownership of Intel will impact it long term? Do you think it will overall help or harm the company?

It's entirely in Intel's hand Hand the government is just one of the way to keep the fabs alive.
And if you ask me there is no leading edge fab in the world without Favourable policy and government support.

Rambus still somehow made its way into the PS3 though. I guess they either fooled the PS3 architects (maybe bribed even?) or the needed bandwidth couldn't be delivered to the PS3 Cell CPU any other way.
