does anyone actually have the full contract intel made with the us government according to the CHIPS act?
its one thing to accuse them of paying a bribe, and maybe thats what happend. But what if their deal according to CHIPS was to deliver certain nodes and processes on time, yet they didn't? Why wouldn't the government then have leverage to not give them money because they didn't deliver?
The thing that makes all this rhetoric hard for me to believe is that intel is a company with massive influence and grasps. This long standing board wouldn't sell themselves short of anything IMO. This, afterall, is the same company that has been shipping chips that are known to degrade at stock settings, and have been constantly and consistently over promising and under-delivering...
and again this thread is back to partisan non-sense, I cant imagine how low quality these conversations will be when "Trumpkins" aren't a boogeyman anymore

Do you think it’s a good thing?
I want Intel to succeed obviously. Whether government involvement is good or bad, I don't have any insight into that.
But if I had any power in the government to launch an inquiry into Intel's decay as a major US supplier of semiconductors, I would have. And then stripped those responsible of their job titles and probably thrown them in jail. As a warning to everyone else that you can't collect huge paychecks and stay complacent and point fingers at each other in the corporate world.

You seemed elated at the prospect of intel suffering from the latest changes.
As far as corporate leaders collecting huge paychecks while pointing fingers, you haven’t been paying attention.
Only poking fun at how hapless Intel's leadership is and has been (the current CEO hasn't been at the helm for long enough to be judged fairly).
Remember, I suffer if something happens to Intel. I lose access to cheap CPUs to tinker with.

How do you suffer if intel suffers? I mean, what you describe is not suffering.
Theres tons of options out there to tinker with without intel.
I suspect you know this, and aren’t really concerned with the recent developments. That makes sarcasm about it a bit easier i would imagine

It is the very purpose of my existence. I don't like anything else in this rotten world. And I only like tinkering with x86 stuff. I've tried Linux and MacOS but due to my MSDOS and Windows roots, anything non-x86 and non-Windows feels alien to me. I'm like, who thought of this stuff and made it so complicated when there could've been easier ways to go about doing things?

We are talking about Intel. A company that was once well-respected and didn't act like clueless idiots unable to figure out what works and what doesn't in the markets they operate in.

My guy, intel and amd have both been thru cycles, business go thru cycles. Sometimes they’re on top, sometimes they’re not.
Nope. Skill doesn't matter when predecessors in a platform make stupid decisions. How am I supposed to keep hopping from distro to distro trying to find the best that suits my needs? My time is far more valuable than that. Also, the MacOS way is just funding a monopoly worse than M$.
Except if Intel goes, AMD is left as the only one standing due to their licensing agreement which means sky high priced CPUs.

lol, others don’t seem to struggle with this concept of multiple hardware, OS, and software combinations. So if it’s not a skill issue, then its just a you issue.
If YOU prefer windows, that doesn’t make others options stupid, it just means you prefer a solution.
Thats one thing to could, which makes your post about intel warning about global sales affected even dumber.
