Question Intels ARC, pretty impressed

I bought a b580 to try it on for size and i am pretty impressed. Driver installation was a breeze, the games I play( rockstar and source stuff mostly) work great. Its a non technical aside, but it was pretty pain free and relatively impressive performance for cheap money.

and i have an all intel non laptop for the first time since..voodoo banshee? no one brings it up but i recall intel having a discreet gpu 20 years ago..didnt make much of a splash.

there is a totality to vibing an entire intel rig that makes me happy, i dont know what value we put on that..i was anti intel when they were chipzilla, but i am feeling it, down to the laminar rh1 cooler.

Overall agree. I have a B580 and it's been solid so far. Some of their Lunar Lake laptops are also tempting. All day battery life on a Windows laptop? Solid.

Yeah. It's ridiculous that retailers/scalpers expect people to pay more for a B580 than a 3060 12GB. Situation may only get fixed if AMD floods the market with 9060 XT 12GB at $350. Then maybe B580 prices will start to drop.

I've seen scalper listing 5090's for over 5000USD.

MLID said that Intel is losing money on every ARC card they sell, because their BoM cost is higher than sale price. So they are intentionally producing very, very low quantity - just enough to avoid investor lawsuits. The lawsuit being for announcing a product to investors and then never delivering it.

I just got an Intel B580 as well, and I would expect it to be at least on par with the RTX 3060Ti, with the added benefit of extra RAM.
Aside from gaming, have you tried using it for applications like Topaz, OBS or Handbrake?
