IntelliMouse Optical: Getting Left and Right Side Buttons to Work in Games

Only certain games seem to let me use the left and right side buttons to perform actions. Is this something the developers have to add support for or is there something I'm missing? Is there any way I can get the buttons to work in most games?

I had the same problem.

Go to the mouse control panel and set the two side buttons to a keyboard key. ive got mine set to shift and ctrl.

Then go to what ever game it is you play and either press the mouse buttons or the coresponding keyboard key to set the particular function.

The only problem game i have that dont work with it is Medal Of Honor : Allied Assault

In the mouse control panel you can set program specific actions for the mouse side buttons - I do this for all my games and it works just fine !
