Intellectual elites

Something to think about the next time you hear a politician complain about "intellectual elites": If you are on this forum, chances are you is one. Whoa.

is this sort of like how each ATOTer is a millionaire with a supermodel wife?

more then anything else..this forum is a grand collection of pop culture KOOK fringe liberals living in their parents basements with a single light bulb swinging overhead of their dusty dingy taco bell laden desk.

I doubt most of the people on here are.

As far as the common man goes, I am one of the 'intellectual elites'. (Imma edumacated) However, intellectual elites usually go to ivy league, come from wealth, get some well paying gig doing whatever, are intelligent, and are surrounded by like-minded people. I am not that and I will never be since I did not come from wealth.

I dated an intellectual snob once. I'd hardly call her elite, but she certainly thought she was. She was, and probably is still very proud of the fact that she was an archivist working as a librarian for Stanford University. Where I felt she failed was in valuing the trappings of education over genuine intelligence, and looking down on those who didn't possess those trappings.

And yet they're still intellectual elites compared to you.

What a weird world you must live in; you are one of the most delusional, paranoid, one-sided partisan hacks of the forum and here you are calling everybody else "KOOK". What a deep level of fantasy you live in; it reminds me of the "Inception" movie, where you are 2 layers deep (regular partisan hacks are one level, then there are people like you who take it down to the next level of crazy).

Elite:

561k people in US Army
2k Rangers

So if we use that as a rough guideline, <0.4% of a given population can be considered elite.

As for "Intellectual", well, after seeing the highlight reel from CPAC, I'm pretty sure Intellectualism is dead.

It's fascinating to me that some cultures do in fact embrace intelligence, viewing it as some manner of a positive attribute.

Meanwhile, in the US, smart kids are ridiculed endlessly starting in elementary school, and permitting word to get out about your own high intelligence can be political suicide.

Very bizarre.

I know I'm not very intellectual or elite. But the abject stupidity of those who think they are never ceases to amaze me.
