Besides that, 3.5 also gives you more space, so you can place more flash chips on them and atleast provide 1.5 times the normal storage cant they?

Because the enterprise/server market is largely moving to 2.5 inch. Notebooks are all 2.5 inch. If you want one in your desktop, buy an adapter.
