For what useage, and what budget ? You can't ask this question without qualifying it. Thats like asking what car would you buy. If I had the money, of course a Ferrari !

amd = cheaper for for low end to mid end..
intel= cost more for low end to mid end..
last, buy whichever you can afford. imho. amd get the best bangs for the bucks.

At this time, AMD is pretty much wiping the floor with Intel.

Intel has dropped their MHz-centric P4 (supposed to have been Tejas)for the greater IPC Pentium M going forward.
Prescotts are pretty much a disaster heat wise and in other ways.

I'm afraid that all Intel can do is launch paper to keep up with AMD for the next 3-6 months.
