Intel FTW. Your AMD build is more expensive, and the E6750 beats even the AMD X2 6000+. Link

Lets's scrap the AMD build and talk about ways to improve the Intel one.

What resolution do you game at?
Do you plan on overclocking?
Budget? (around $1200 I'd guess)

Yeah, around $1200

My preferred resolution is 1024x768

Also, I'm sure I'd love to overclock but have no idea how to!

I'd make the following changes to the Intel build:
Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-P35-S3L Link $105
PSU - Corsair 450W Link $70
RAM - Corsair XMS2 PC2-6400 Link $67

Saves you around $150

Sweet Jebus! And my favourite view is of a smoggy, oil-polluted shoreline :frown:

Please allow that 8800GTS-320 to show off its true abilities: performance and IQ at today's resolutions.

Agreed. With the $150 that was easily trimmed off (and probably more to come). Buy a decent monitor. A 20" widescreen wouldn't be a bad choice around $200.

Edit: Something like This or This.

Well, to be honest, I was looking forward to a possible Sli future and I like the integrated wireless G internet connection

I believe SLI is generally a waste of time, and I think you'll find most people agree. I don't think you can do SLI on that motherboard anyway.

SLI is junk, especially if you are a low res gamer. Forget SLI and improve the rest of your components. Just my 2 cents.

Btw, I went with the p5k motherboard just for better upgrade capabilities and the north bridge seems better.

Oh... thanks for pointing that out. I still think I am going to head for p5k. I am not buying it myself, I am going to get it as a present.

What benefits will I get from it? Or that GA-P35 I was recommended

Since you're not paying, might as well get the P5K. Have you updated a wishlist with what you're currently thinking of buying, or is everything still the same?

Edit: My mistake, didn't see you had updated it. If you still plan on using your existing monitor and gaming at 1024x768, then the 8800GTS 640MB version is a complete waste of money. Add an LCD to the wishlist, or go to the 8800GTS 320MB. Even less of a video card would handle that resolution just fine.

The GA-P35 is a great overclocker and solid mobo, atlough I would also recommend the Asus mobo you picked out. It's a solid board. I would keep your RAM too, it's a good overclocker, and I would bump up the PSU to an Enermax 500W Liberty.

You also forgot a case.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16811117086 I already have it

I never really played with anything over 1024x768

I just got on CSS and played 1280x1024(LCD) I actually like it. Cept for the minor lag I get, but hey... That what I get for having a 7300LE 128mb

I am deff. going to get a new monitor. 20inch widescreen, like the one I'm using now... just for the other computer. (I am rocking my dads computer) Once you go 20inch widescreen you don't go back! I am going to get the LCD last, so I ain't going to even add it to the wishlist.
