"Gelsinger is joining EMC Corp. as president and chief operating officer of information infrastructure products, the data storage company said Monday.

Intel also said general counsel Bruce Sewell was leaving, a change that two analysts said was baffling, given the chip giant's ongoing legal battles"

Sewell was the one responsible for training INTC on antitrust compliance...
With the suit coming to a copurtroom in less than a year, it could be that Intel is lining up the scapegoats...

Gelsinger has been huge at Intel...leader for the 386 and the inventor of the IDF, he's often been the face and voice of Intel to outside engineers.
I imagine that EMC is paying him a fortune...

True...but the big part of the announcement (for those of us buying and selling stocks) is more that Bruce Sewell is gone.
Some things to remember here...:

1. Sewell was a lead attorney for them in antitrust
2. The case goes to court (relatively speaking) very soon
3. Barclays upgraded AMD last week to overweight based partially on the "legal progress with Intel". They raised their 12 month outlook to $7 (double what the stock value was a few weeks ago...)

My own speculation is that we will see a settlement fairly soon, and that Intel will (at least partially) throw Sewell under the bus...JMHO
