Intel to stop Rambus memory support?

huh

Is it true. Is Intel going to stop Rambus memory support?

Found here. Towards the bottom of the page.
I found another article on ZD Net a bit ago, but it's no longer there.

Makes you wonder if this is true with Inte's great marketing. Ie. the new P4's coming out w/ 533MHz FSB which will require a new motherboard. Things that make you go "HUMMMMMM"

Why???? Where did you hear this???? I sincerely doubt this will happen as future boards are already in the makes as well as future releases of RDRAM..........PC1066 should be along in late may, and PC1200 this Fall..............😉

I think the end of RAMBUS support was affecting the XEON Server Processors. Dunno about desktop P4s.

Well, first off, you won't "Need" a new motherboard, although there will be new ones available for the increased FSB. Many of the boards out now are quite capable of using the new 533FSB chips & the new PC1066 ram...........second, I doubt we'll see Intel eliminate RDRAM...............*most* systems may be DDR based, but, RDRAM is here to stay even if it is in a so called "niche" only applications.............I for one run two RD boards right now and one SiS 645 with XMS PC2700 DDR and the RD boards still beat the DDR boards in B/M's.............this will only get better with PC1066 RD.........😉
