Right over here

<< According to sources, Intel is intent on selling its 845b-step chipset and Nanya?s DDR as a package to downstream motherboard manufacturers. Nanya is currently the world?s third-largest manufacturer of DDR and offers a lower price when compared with overseas companies. Kao claims that Nanya is more than a year-and-a-half ahead of Taiwanese competitors in DDR development. The company expects to ship nine million DDR chips in 2001, reaching 75% of its original full-year target >>

EDIT: Its over at Xbit labs as well, here
2nd EDIT: You've got a point, more than likely, its sounds exactly like xbit figures, When you buy some 845DDR boards, you get memory.

Either they are trying to add more value to the motherboard so manufacturers can sell the motherboard or they are trying to make manufacturers sell Nanya DDR with the motherboards as a package deal. Who knows.

Looks like the Xbit Labs explains it a little better:

There appeared some very interesting unofficial info. Digitimes reports that Intel decided to order a large quantity of DDR SDRAM chips from Nanya Technology. These chips will be used to produce DIMM modules (there is no information about the company, which is to produce them yet), which Intel will be offering the mainboard manufacturers together with their i845 B-Step chipset (i845 with DDR SDRAM support).
