The Intel® Solid-State Drive Toolbox (Intel® SSD Toolbox) is drive management software that allows you to:
* View current drive information for Intel® Solid-State Drives (Intel® SSDs), including:
- Model number, capacity, and firmware version
- Drive health
- Estimated drive life remaining
- SMART attributes (also available for hard disk drives and non-Intel SSDs)
- IDENTIFY DEVICE information (also available for hard disk drives and non-Intel SSDs)
* Optimize the performance of an Intel SSD using Trim functionality
* Optimize the performance of an Intel SSD in RAID 0 using Trim functionality Intel RST 11.0 or greater
* Obtain proactive notifications of new Intel SSD Toolbox software versions for Windows* 7 and Windows* 8 systems
* Update the firmware on a supported Intel SSD
* Run quick and full diagnostic scans to test the read and write functionality of an Intel SSD
* Check and tune your system settings for optimal Intel SSD performance, power efficiency, and endurance
* View your system information and hardware configuration, such as central processing unit (CPU),
chipset, controller name, and driver versions
* Run Secure Erase on a secondary Intel SSD

Before beginning the Intel SSD Toolbox installation, review the Release Notes and follow the instructions in the Installation Guide. A
Frequently Asked Questions document is also available for your reference.

If you experience a performance issue using the Intel 500 Series drives with Microsoft Windows XP*, please install the Acronis AlignTool* - Intel® SSD Edition.

If you need assistance with the installation or experience issues, contact Intel Customer Support.

NOTE: Installing this version of the Intel SSD Toolbox overwrites any previous version of Intel SSD Toolbox installed in your system.

The Intel SSD Toolbox supports firmware updates on the following Intel SSDs:

Intel® Solid-State Drive
Latest Firmware Version

Intel® Solid-State Drive 710 Series 6PB10362
Intel® Solid-State Drive 320 Series 4PC10362

Ok... I seem to be having problem here... It's not detecting that there is an updated FW for my Intel 330 when it clearly states that it provides FW update for my SSD...

There is no firmware upgrade for the SSD 330. The latest is 300i, which is what you have. This was simply an update for the toolbox.

@ Hellhammer

Ok... I was a little confused though since Intel said...

Intel® Solid-State Drive Latest Firmware Version

Intel® Solid-State Drive 330 Series 330i

... so per my understanding, the latest should be 330i... :|

Ta for the heads up. Samsung should learn from Intel how to make a good SSD utility.

They do - it is called Samsung SSD Magician. Version 3.1 came with the 830, and this week they released version 3.2. It has all the vital tools.

I think from the words he chose he is fully aware of Samsungs SSD Magician but for some reason doesn't think it's any good. I think it's great and Intel could learn from Samsung how to offer a bootable secure erase tool.

Perhaps each have dis/advantages but as of Magician 3.1 at least, Samsung does not have diagnostics, is slow to present all devices, benchmarks automatically after optimization, has queer option locations and tray behaviour, and attempts network comms. Also, TRIM is not as active; with Intel the utility is really not needed for TRIM given OS/driver capability.

Tbf most of those are valid points. I will certainly concede Intel's GUI is a lot slicker. I am not sure how much benefit there is to diagnostics. SSDs don't seem to exhibit intermittent behavior; they either work or die and worn out or bad NAND is automatically remapped.

Regarding TRIM, most manufacturers now implement a clean up as late as possible approach and as long as drives get some idle time then the TRIM feature isn't actually needed in either application. Samsung's TRIM feature is actually more comprehensive than Intel's as Intel's only sends the TRIM command where as Samsung do TRIM and GC in Magician.

Either way I think they're both good programs but I do wish Intel would make a bootable SE utility.

How does that SSD optimizer work ??? Ya intel comes with good software their the only ones right ?

I mean I rather use CrystalDiskInfo to check my hard drives health and what not no need for Intel app. the SSD optimizer tho seems interesting.. wat does it do exactly ?
Maybe Sammy and Crucial dont need apps cuz their TRIM pownz and their firmware pownz BTW guys 010G pownz things are soo fast , they were already fast with 0FFF but with these ,, man 15 second boot times,,,,, things are flying fast,,,, the OS is instant,,good job Crucial

haven't tried searching but anyone know when Samsung will release an updated version for Win 8? I just installed it on my new 830 series and the 3.2 release won't install.

Hi,
Thank you writing to Intel Customer Support. I understand that you were not able to use SSD Toolbox to update to firmware 330i, which is the latest firmware version for 330 SSD as stated in our website at http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=18455
Allow me to further check on this, I will update you as soon as there is any findings. Again, thank you for bringing this matter to our attention.
Best Regards,

Intel CS's response...
What are you on about? Your drive already has the latest firmware as Hellhammer has explained. Also I don't think you have read or understood what you highlighted on the toolbox:

The selected Intel SSD contains current firmware as of this Toolbox release. Click here for Updates to look for a newer version of the Intel SSD Toolbox, which may include newer firmware.

I'm not sure how much clearer all this can be.

I think I fully understand what I highlighted but the point is, this could be a bug for this release as it is not consistent with what Intel is saying...
The Intel SSD Toolbox supports firmware updates on the following Intel SSDs:

Intel® Solid-State Drive Latest Firmware Version

Intel® Solid-State Drive 710 Series 6PB10362
Intel® Solid-State Drive 320 Series 4PC10362
Intel® Solid-State Drive 311 Series 2CV102M5
Intel® Solid-State Drive 310 Series 2CV102M3
Intel® Solid-State Drive 330 Series 330i

... again as you can see, the latest firmware for the 330 should be 330i but I have 300i. and this toolbox is not seeing that 330i is available... so there is a disconnect...

I'm not sure how much clearer all this can be also...

Ahh, sorry, I didn't notice that it's 330i, not 300i. Usually Intel only changes the last letter when doing updates, so that's why I thought they are the same. Still possible that they are and that there is simply a typo/error, but lets wait if the support people can give you an answer.

I'm eager to hear what Intel has to say. I was also wondering if that was a typo on the firmware list or a bug in the new update mechanism. I just installed Windows 8 and was thinking the firmware may have a related update as well. Only because the toolbox did have a bug fix as it relates to Windows 8, specifically in the System Tuner.

This happens to be a buggy release afterall and a "typo" for the 330 Series firmware... Version:3.1.1 has just been released and the note corrected to show 300i firmware for the 330's.

Seems like that, the SSD 330 wasn't the only one with a wrong firmware. My SSD 335 has firmware 335s, yet the previous update claimed that there is a newer 335j update for it (the drive had not even been released).

* Optimize the performance of an Intel SSD in RAID 0 using Trim functionality Intel RST 11.0 or greater
-seems to work,
-both drives still @ 100% life.
