Did you expect the forum to be filled with novice users?

And the reason why you got the response you did is intel has lots of data to back their claims. Your 2 or 3 drives dying won't change anything. Your sample set of data is far too small for you to be trying to refute their data.

I think almost everyone on this forum has lost a hard drive at some point and time would I create a thread like this no.

Your unhappy we get that. What did you really expect the posts to be like in this thread when the majority haven't had any issues?
 
So, if I am to follow your logic, if you purchase an SSD from a company with a higher failure rate than intel you should be in a better position than you are now?

I am not being snarky, just trying to make sure I understand.

not sure who you are asking since there is no quoted post or a name in your post?
 
I just wanted to point out that I don't have any problem at all with you posting that you had X number of SSDs that failed from brand Y, no matter what brand it is.

It would have been nice if you included more information, though. As other people have mentioned, what systems the SSDs were in would be good to know. It would also be nice to know the SMART information (or a statement that the drives were unresponsive to SMART queries). Or an estimate of how many GBs had been written to the drives.

An exact description of the failure, how it was first noticed, and any other symptoms would have been good.

All of that would have made for an excellent post.

It was the other things you said that made people want to question you. Stuff like it was determined that the SSDs all failed due to bad flash. And that Intel's reputation for quality and reliability was in question because you have observed 3 failures.

I actually think Intel's SSD quality has gone down, but I don't base it on a sample size of 3 SSDs. I base it on the increase in return rate for Intel SSDs in a recent French etailer survey, and also on the fact that Intel recently switched to Sandforce controllers and apparently solved some but not all of the Sandforce BSOD issues. And a higher incidence of 1- or 2-egg newegg reviews for the Intel 520 SSDs as compared to earlier models of Intel SSDs. Even with this opinion, I do NOT think the issues are due to Intel flash. I think it is primarily firmware and controller related issues. And even with all this, I'd still choose Intel over OCZ. But I choose Plextor and Samsung over Intel at this point.
 
I have intel 320 SSD (no problems), and keeping track of intel forum, there is know fact of problem with firmware which may or may not be fixed for intel ssd 320 series
The fishy about failure is that same ppl complain all over again, not many isolated problems, so some of them looks as fake to me (just my opinion) trying to make bad name for intel at least for their SSD

PS: also most of them there try to sound as experts???

OP: Its just like AMD vs nVidia drivers. Certain hardware and software combinations just don't work together. In your case, for whatever reason, Intel drives are just not for you. And you're not alone (a quick look over at Intel's forums show many F4 BSODs on their new 520 series, which Intel claimed had been fixed by their own firmware).

However, we know from population surveys that Intel (and Samsung) has one of the best track records in the industry. That means nothing to you, but if someone were to ask whether to buy a Vertex or a Cherryville, these stats would make our recommendation easier.
