Speed: SSD > SSD caching > HDD
SSD caching is a slower but more affordable alternative to SSD.
It only makes sense if you are not willing or able to afford a large SSD. It is certainly nice to have budget tech but it makes no sense to upgrade to an expensive top of the line equipment to get it. Intel limiting it to their high end products is rather bizarre in that regards
