Should I be backing up both partitions ( system reserved and operating partition ) or just the operating one? thanks.

For bare metal restore you need to backup both.

What are you using to back up your SSD install and later revert back? I'd like to do the same thing with mine.

right now I am using acronis true image 2010. I haven't had to revert back yet, but it seems to back up just fine.

Not sure what this means. I don't backup my 100MB recovery paritition, and my OS restores work fine. Using Symantec Livestate though.

I know BitLocker is tie to the 100mb system partition. Not sure what else but I would definitely backup that partition too. I have done numerous backup and recovery with True Image 2010 in an SSD with Win7.
