Intel SSD 180gb for $99 (330 model with Sandforce)

My staples has it but it's $219 at the store, rep says those are ".com" prices only...

The Staples pricematch policy says they have to honor staples.com prices. Print off the policy, take it back and tell them to honor it or call corporate.

"Which competitors will Staples price match?
Staples retail stores will price match prices at brick–n–mortar retail stores and at Staples.com."

I almost bought the 180 gig when it went on sale, kind of glad now I didn't. The 240 gig is currently at $140 (free shipping, no rebate).

Linky?

EDIT: Oh, I guess you mean this one? http://slickdeals.net/permadeal/836...5-sata-iii-mlc-internal-solid-state-drive-ssd

I'm still on the fence about the 330s due to the low grade NAND.

If you assume a typical client drive sees 10GB of writes per day, within a year you'd write 3650GB to the drive. I wrote that much in 24 hours. In fact, I wrote more than two years worth of data to the 60GB Intel SSD 330 in two days. All the while the Intel SSD 330 didn't even blink.

i got my 180 330 from newegg, its pretty fast, almost as fast as my 830.. i also took down the 240 from te, man these are cheap

Ordered mine from Tigerdirect Thursday evening, $119 - $30 MIR. Couldn't bring up the rebate form then or all day Friday, but managed to print it out on Saturday. That was aggravating. Can't mail in the form and UPC until I get it.

My first SSD. Figuring out how to install it is proving to be a bitch, something I figured might well happen when I started up with SSDs. I hope to put it in my Lenovo T60, hopefully running XP, will see. I hear Intel has really good utilities for these, as good or better than Samsung's.
This same 180G drive is now $90 AR at TigerDirect.
it appears to be in stock right now, but $10 more than I paid. Still not bad.

Send me a PM. I probably have a leftover hard disk tray to replace the CD-ROM for a T60 that I could send you. It'll sure make it easier moving files around.

for those of ya that order from tiger, did yours shipped ? i got a tracking number that looked like usps but doesn't track..

Last time I checked, a couple of days ago when I tried to get tracking info it said that they hadn't shipped yet because they were awaiting stock. I'll check now...

Uh huh, hasn't changed...

Order Status: All Backordered - These items are currently on backorder, and will ship as soon as we receive stock on them.

Curiously, it indicates that my order date was Saturday, 11/24, however I ordered on Friday, 11/23. 😕

I hope they get them soon, the rebate form gives me ~1 month in which to send in the forms, and I can't do that without the original UPC!

I also ordered an Intel 330 180GB on 11-23 and my account says its backordered.

I'll give it a few more days and then I'll cancel it.

The 240 GB model I ordered on 11-23 says it shipped on 11-23. It actually didn't get into the UPS until 11-26.

"Package received for processing by UPS Mail Innovations "

Due to receive that one on Dec 3rd.

I don't care enough to cancel as long as I get it in time to get the rebate. If that's in jeopardy I'll make a stink!

Edit: A few minutes later I go to their site and bitch, then check tracking again (cumbersome process) and it says it shipped today. The craziness continues... they provided both a UPS and a USPS tracking ID (both different). Nutty... I'll get it, I'm not worried. Wish they'd let me order the rebate limit of 2.

w00t never enough SSDs

It's the truth. I've never even laid eyes on one but I am itching to order a 2nd even so. I have two PC's that are bleeding for one. A 3rd will likely follow when I fall in love with the first two.

I'm seeing a lot of these drives showing up on ebay, UPC removed. Seems to me these sellers bought the drives to get the $30 rebate and then turn around and sell them for $125-$130 or more. That strikes me as sleazy. Plus, AFAIK that makes warranty coverage from Intel very much an iffy proposition. Intel's web page on the 3 year warranty says it applies to the original purchaser or the original purchaser of a system sold by the original purchaser.

I just bought an Intel 520 120GB drive from an ebay seller ($100 shipped), obviously not a business, the seller has only 15 feedbacks (computer items, all different, it seems) since October 2012. I don't know if I would have trouble getting Intel to honor the 5 year warranty, but the drive is represented as new in packaging, evidently not the retail box, however (i.e. no bracket), but does have an SATA cable and instructions. I intend to put it in a laptop, so won't miss the bracket.

Now I have two SSD's coming, I'm going to put the 180GB 330 in my desktop, which will multiboot to XP (two partitions), may have a 3rd partition for some random data.
