Intel SRT - cache E Drive?

Hi,

I have 2x Vertex 3 128GB SSD's and offload big data onto my E-drive, a 1TB HD. I have Steam on the D drive with most played on the same drive and the (lots of) extra games are juntioned to the HD using Steam Tool. I also have some bigger programs on the HD.

What I am wanting to know is, is it possible for me to use a 64GB SSD to cache the E drive? This would further increase overall speed and mean I don't have to swap in and out the steam games I play. I have about 280 games on Steam, so no way are all of them going to fit on an SSD. Also, I like that idea of an extra SSD caching what I forget about.

From what I am reading, it seems as if the SRT is geared for only C drive, but I would be suprised if it was limited to that.

Can anyone answer for sure please?

I believe SRT is C only -- boot times go way down tho !

Are you sure? After reading about it, Intel says that it can cache a drive as long as it's in raid with it. I believed too that it was only C, but I think we may both incorrect. I hope so anyway! No disrespect meant re your answer btw

Oh, and I should say, I am running a Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3, so I have 2 extra 6GB marvell SATA 3's, and can use these for the boot drive and other SSD. So I can still fulfill having the drive in Raid with the HD, if you see what I mean.

You should point it at the drive in which case it can be any drive. This is actually a really great use case for it, but the intended structure was for it to be as an aftermarket accelerator for HD. Basically for people who got HDDs at first and want SSD performance without having to get a big drive and do a reinstall. It's one of the reasons I was disapointed that the X79 chipset didn't include it. Always planned on a SSD OS drive, but not so unlimited in funds that I can the biggest drives out there. So I would have liked to have been able to SRT cache the main storage and installation drive.
