Question Intel sockets FCLGA2011, LGA2011, LGA2011-1, LGA2011-3 and compatibility

Hi,

Can anyone please clarify me a simple question regarding Xeon sockets?

The Supermicro X9DRH-7TF spec states is supports "Dual Socket R (LGA 2011)" CPUs.

The ark intel specs list Xeon E5 2630V2 as FCLGA2011.

Is there a difference between LGA2011 and FCLGA2011? The latter should be simply the full acronym so they should relate to the same, correct?

Looking at the following info:

• LGA 2011 original socket
• LGA 2011-1 (Socket R2) for Ivy Bridge-EX (Xeon E7 v2),[6] Haswell-EX (Xeon E7 v3) and Broadwell-EX (Xeon E7 v4) CPUs
• LGA 2011-3 (Socket R3) for Haswell-E and Haswell-EP CPUs

This means that the motherboard revision made by Supermicro at some point in time to support Ivy Bridge processors (E5 26xxV2), which required hardware change, involved update of the socket itself to LGA 2011-1 (among other changes), correct?

So I'm safe to assume the Supermicro X9DRH-7TF motherboard will work with Intel Xeon E5 2630V2 processors?

FC stands for flip chip. That's more of CPU manufacturing term and not a board/socket one. They are the same thing.

I was hoping so, so I needed to ask. Thank you for your help.

I'm buying a pair of Intel Xeon E5 2630V2 processors for a Supermicro X9DRH-7TF motherboard, it would be very bad if they were not compatible.

But it's very confusing this socket sub-versioning that Intel makes, and seems it is getting even worse with the latest processor families.
