*** Intel Q9400 $179.99 ***

For the love of god, can someone show me how to search the Microcenter website. Man I stink at the internet. They literally only sell 5 Intel processors?! Why don't they list anything nice and neat?

tiger/compusa has the q6700 for $199... oem...

i was about to pull the trigger for one with a free cheap mobo for $249... last upgrade for a 650sli board...

Hmmm, I bought Q9300 for the same price less than 25 days ago. It is still lying unpacked and am wondering if I can return that and get the Q9400 instead. Not sure if they will take a processor back even though it is still in its original unopened box. In any case, I just went ahead and ordered one using OP's link (it is in-store pickup only). Will try returning my Q9300 tomorrow (customer service is closed for the day now) and pick this one up. If I cannot do the return, oh well, will cancel the order.

The processor the OP listed is available at MC B&M only. The website's display of CPUs apparently only shows the ones they sell on-line, which seems to be limited to 5 Intel processors. It's not clear if they had them in stock on-line when the OP posted, or if he got to that link some other way...

They also have a dirt cheap Core i7 920 - like $70 under Newegg's price. I personally indulged in the i7 Studio XPS machine, which was actually priced pretty nicely (aka, DIY level).

I also picked up the Q9300 about a month ago that was on sale for the same price. Oh well its running completely stable for me at 3 gig.

mmmm... I was gonna buy five and sell them on ebay (except for one that will replace my current Q6600), but on second look... because it is ONLY for in store pickup it includes tax, tax is 8.25% here... it is actually 194.85 after tax for the Q9400, not 180$. it is a 30 minute drive in each direction... optinally through a tollroad that will have me paying another 6$ in each direction. Gas, car milage, and my time... simply not as hot a deal as it originally seemed.

actually, when you think about it, its even worse for those that do live near a B&M. cause they have to pay tax... But if you order it online its tax free...

EDIT: I tried to order a Q9300 via delivery... no good, I still have to pay sales tax here in texas. Either microcenter is located in texas, or they charge sales tax in any state where they have a store, either way its not worth it for me. oh well. I hope you lucky non texans enjoy this awesome deal.

Merchants are required to collect sales tax in any state where they have a presence, such as a retail outlet. Microcenter has a store in Houston, therefore, if you are in Texas, you pay sales tax.

Would one get this deal over an OEM Q8200 for $100? I got in on this, but also found this Fry's deal on the Q8200...which one to keep?
