First of all, I'm sorry if this is in the wrong section of the forum, but I think I got the right one..

Anyway, I'm looking at getting a PC, mainly for gaming, (Cod4 to be precise) and I was wondering how good this set-up would be and whether I would be able to get 250fps with a good game config. (some cod4 players might know what I mean)

Here's the RIG:

Intel Q8300
GigaByte GA-G41MT-ES2L (Motherboard)
2GB RAM
250GB Memory
ATI HD 5770
600W Power Supply

Let me know how good you guys thing this PC would be. Thanks, Steve.

2GB of ram is pretty low amount. Also, wait for sandy bridge.

Wow, this may be a first but i'm gonna have to agree with TridenT here. Even if Sandy Bridge proves to be a lackluster performer, it will still drive down the pricing on S775 gear so you will likely get much more for your money at that time.

EDIT: If SB performs well, then it would be a better option.

That rig is really random. Is that a used setup? How much? If the price is right it would be a decent starter, just add some ram and go for a moderate OC.

The Q8xxx series was not all that hot but not terrible either.

If you're building a new rig for budget gaming :

PhII BE
Gigabyte AM3 mobo
4GB DDR3
ATI 6850 or Nvidia 460
1TB WD Blue (black if you can fit in the budget)
Cheap Case
Decent 500-600W PSU (Antec is solid)
Cheap DVDRW

boom, set for 1080p gaming. You can build these pretty cheap.

I just did a test shopping cart at Newegg :

Gigabyte 785G AM3 MATX Mobo
AMD Phenom II 955 X4 Black Edition Retail
4GB DDR3 1600
1TB WD Blue 7200RPM Sata
Samsung DVDRW Sata
1GB GTX460
OCZ 600W StealthXstream2 PSU
LinkWorld MATX Case

$581 before rebates, $55 comes back from rebates

Is this thing used? I wouldn't pay any more than 250 for that.

the cpu might need a mild overclock but the 5770 should be fine.

I have a Q8200 and a gts250 and have played COD 4:MW, COD:WaW, amd COD:MW2 without any problems. I have 4 gb of ram, and played them at 1440X900 (max resolution of monitor).
