Intel Q6700 with vista 64 bit *help needed*

Hi guys,

i think i need some help with my PC. i am currently running with windows vista 32bit with intel core 2 Quad Q6700 @ 2.66

my question is:

can use windows vista ultimate 64 bit with this processor?

thank u in advance

Generally it's fine; only a small number of particularly picky programs refuse to work. Virtually every install people around here seem to do is 64bit Vista.

This issue is covered a lot, so if you search the forums you'll find the answers you're after.

"From which section?"

As in what section of our forums? Operating Systems, the section you're currently in.

Pretty much any recent CPU from the last couple years can run a 64 bit system, now how well it will do it is a bit different question. 64 bit OS's took a while to get taken seriously. XP64 was a basic dissaster due to driver development. Vista 64 had all of its problems with addition program and driver issues from being 64 bit. These days its pretty rare to come across something new and mainstream that will not work on 64 bit.

i have been running my q6600 with 64 bit vista for over a year now and have had no trouble at all with anything. all drivers and software install fine for me
