Hi,

Just got back from Best Buy, and they had (2 left) the Intel Pro PC Camera Pack for $79.99 (clearance price). Tag didn't say anything about it being $79.99 after the rebate though. Since there's a $30 mail-in rebate on this item, the total would be $49.99. Am I missing something here? Can someone tell me how this camera rates, and possibly why it's so cheap? I'm thinking of grabbing them. Thanks.

Is this cam better than the Kodak PC325 (so far not happy with it AT all). Very poor picture quality. I have even tried the new drivers. Need one that does not require "perfect" lighting to have good quality.

BMP.

You need the 3com homeconnect web cam, works awesome in low lighting...makes the picture actually look like its day time... these are from some caps ive seen from some webpages... looks very nice. Its pretty pricey tho.

This is a great camera. I had one that I got from BB that was an open box. It was for my friend so I didn't get to use it much. From when I tested it worked wonderfully. Yes the camera didn't do so great with low light as my Homeconnect but the framerate and quality wasn't half bad. It was easy to setup and fun to play with (has these cute camera and you games). For $49 it's at a great price.

This camera is an excellent cam. I have one and it is great for single snap shots, web streaming, or video conferecing. Also, with the Pro camera, you get video-in capability. So, I usually record from my tv, vcr, PS2, etc.. into the computer. For 79.99 or 49.99 this camera is excellent.

Also the resolution is 640x480, sure it's not a 2.1/3.1 megapix camera...but its not $500 either...

The software suite is excellent as well. Very easy to use and a ton of features ( half of which i never use, but some may..)

Sorry, I'm confused... a little help? :)

BB's website lists several Intel webcams:

Intel® PC Camera Pack ? ICP3 : price is $49.50
Intel® Deluxe PC Camera ? IPCC4D : price is $79.99

Which one are we talking about here? Or is it neither of these, and something different altogether called the "Pro PC Camera Pack" that is not listed on their website?

There's a good reason why it's so cheap: it's not compatible with W2K. The other PC camera from Intel (the all-white one) works fantatic with W2K. The 3Com HomeConnect is also a very fine choice.

And please...do not buy the IBM camera. Ignore the great price. It's the absolute WORST camera I ever used for videoconferencing (and I've used over 20). It's not even as good as parallel cameras.
