How big of a preformance differance would it have on this laptop?

Dell Inspiron 9300
Intel® Pentium® M Processor 750 (1.86 or 2GHz/2MB Cache/533MHz FSB)
17 inch UltraSharp? Wide Screen XGA+ Display
512MB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz 2 Dimm
60GB Hard Drive
256MB NVIDA® GeForce? Go 6800 Incredible Graphics
24X CD Burner/DVD Combo Drive or 8x CD/DVD burner (DVD+/-RW) with double-layer write capability

How much would it affect my gaming? How much slower would it be? Overall how would it be??

Yes it will. I will be using some dell coupons so it will come up to about $1300 😀

So it wouldn't make a difference really?

Not much at all. I'd go with the 2ghz just to brag a bit. (I'm anal, I would never go for a 2.8ghz p4.... ever... it has to be above 3... but since it's a P-M, I'd get a 2).

Dude, get the 1.86 GHz and use the money you save on some more RAM, and just overclock the CPU slightly.

Better yet, get the MINIMUM amount of RAM possible, then order some RAM from Newegg or Crucial for LESS than the upgrade amount from Dell. When you get your notebook, swap the RAM and sell the smaller modules.

Overclocking a dell? Wait... overclocking a LAPTOP?

thats what i thought 😛 .. DELL have never heard the word Overclock before, although if you could OC a P4 3.0Ghz lappy an extra 600Mhz or so over spec you could have yourself a portable heated frying pan to make some fried eggs on the go, now that would be the ultimate lappy 😛

Actually, the RAM idea is the smartest suggestion i got so far. I will get the 1.86 and a GB of RAM, same price...LOL

My new and improved futur laptop. (JULLY)

Dell Inspiron 9300
Intel® Pentium® M Processor 750 (1.86GHz/2MB Cache/533MHz FSB)
Microsoft® Windows® XP Media Center Edition 2005
TV Tuner w/ Remote Control
17 inch UltraSharp? Wide Screen XGA+ Display
1GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz 2 Dimm
60GB Hard Drive
256MB NVIDA® GeForce? Go 6800 Incredible Graphics
24X CD Burner/DVD Combo Drive

The reason im only getting a 24X CD Burner/DVD Combo Drive, is that I have a Desktop to do the DVD burning.
