Maybe he has a store or something.

As to him actually sending them:
I've noticed many fishy eBay auctions, but this doesn't seem to be one of them--look at his feedback, 92 positives, 0 negatives.

As to their being stolen or otherwise unlawfully gotten:
90%. Maybe he got the kind of processors (and this seems likely) where you have to buy a hard drive or whatever with it and just didn't get the hard drive. Maybe he stole them. At any rate it definitely appears fishy. <sarcasm>But hey if he stole them you won't get in trouble!</sarcasm> :p

Check out some of his completed deals.....73GB Cheetah 10K Drive for $650. He has sold the 1GHz for $200 on the 9th of Feb. 512MB of Samsung PC133 for $177. Hmmmmm, I need to find his supplier :D

1. I have no idea what this guy is actually selling, or if he is honest or not. He may have simply acquired CPUs at a very advantageous price, and is passing them on to his customers.
2. That price seems very low.
3. Theoretically speaking, a PIII750e designed to run at 100MHz FSB (7.5X100=750), running overclocked at 133.3MHz FSB yields a speed of (7.5X133.333)= ~1GHz.
4. RETAIL/street price on a PIII 750e OEM is about $ 157.
5. RETAIL/street price on a PIII 1GHz OEM is about $260.
6. It is not unheard of for someone to sell something worth $260 for $200 or $210 on e bay.
7. It is rather unheard of for someone to do that on a regular basis, over and over again.

All of the above are facts. Draw your own conclusions.

Actually you can talk to the seller thru eG*Y and ask him where the hell he got those. Dont guess and think something bad for people( is that your behavior? Just kidding).May be he got connections for cheap then he sell for cheap as long he can make some profits. With $180 apiece that you can call a hot deal. I want a piece too if some body buy it ).LMK

What is Intel's current bulk price for these? If he is selling them below that, something seems strange......:)

Jmman,

I suppose it is a matter of perspective, depending on whether you are the buyer or the seller. :)

Well, as posted in the For Sale/Trade Forum, I already emailed the guy about getting 10 of them. His e8ay auction states that he is located in Austin, TX, which is where I'm at. Once he replies and I find out where he is, I might be able to go and phyiscally verify the chips and the seller. However, I don't have a use for 10 1ghz chips. ;) I'll keep ya posted. :D

It is possible they are remarked P3 750s. Checking should be easy, wouldn't CPU ID say? What about the serial number?

Read This in one of his auctions...

These CPU's are from a company that had bought these as OEM with no cartridges. We have put new SECC cartridges on them but they say 550mhz or 450mhz. This is misleading. These are 1GHZ Pentium III Slot 1's ready to go without the heatsinks. They will take any slot 1
heatsink just fine. Don't be confused or think these are overclocked. I guarantee they aren't!! We have called Intel with the serial numbers and have test benched every one of them and they are 1GHZ CPU's. It's just that the cartridges are not matched by saying 1000Ghz on the
top rim of the processor!! It's no big deal!! Think of it like you bought a Ford Eddie Bauer Expedition and the Logo on the sides says XLT!! No difference other than cosmetic. Got it????

You be the judge...

Wow, that makes it sound even fishier if at all possible. I don't see all of them getting marked incorrectly. As they say, buyer beware.

yodayoda you're not kidding. I mean the 400 Watt power supply is pricey by itself. I mean if you won a computer at work, how can it compare to one you pieced together. I would think you would sell the one from work, not the one you put together with love!

<< the case is $200 alone and the chip $300 >>

I don't think that case's worth $200, in fact, it should be around $100 range.
Thought I saw that one a while ago at colorcase(s).com

anyway, price looks really HOT....wish I had money.

Actually, the reason the Athlon and 512MB sold for $2 w/ buy-it-now was probably to avoid fees. Agreed-upon price was probably much much higher. Just a way to save some money.
