Intel Pentium D 930/940 vs Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core 3800+

Currently in my country (New Zealand) the last-gen Pentium CPUs have dropped a lot in price while the last-gen AMD CPUs have dropped very little. Based on current pricing info, the Pentium D 930 is $200 cheaper than the Athlon64 x2 3800+ and the Pentium D 940 $100 cheaper. How do the two Intel processors stack up against the Athlon64 x2 3800+ processor performance-wise? Would either Intel processor be a better buy than the AMD processor, and if the AMD processor were to drop down to a similar price to the Pentium D 930 would it then become the better buy of the two?
