Intel PCI-express NIC

I was wondering why I was getting corrupt downloads with this card. I thought it was okay to plug a pci-e 1x card into a pci-e 16x slot, so I did that briefly before removing it permanently. I am guessing I killed the card?

If I was to replace should I get the same one or would a rosewill cheap gigabit controller card work fine? Thanks and sorry for my idiocy.

The 16x slot is backward compatible with the 1x card.
You'll have to blame your trouble on something else... Sorry 😛

Are basic network transfers also corrupted? I had a problem like this back in the days of Napster when I'd have friends come over for LAN parties and they'd leech on my 512Kbps up/down DSL line. 😉

I believe we ended up putting new Linksys drivers on his machine and that did the trick.
