I did not note the SKU. The price sign said that it had Northwood core and an 800mhz buss speed. I just wanted to pass on the information. If I get back up there in the near future i'll get more info.
 
I got one for the same price in Minnesota; better yet it is a 30capper MO stepping.

SKU is 5801493.

Okay, is there special stores that carry processors? I called mine and received a "uhh, we don't carry processors" and then called another two stores, one which refused to pick up and another in which their # system did not work so it wouldn't transfer me :|
 
As far as I can tell only a few stores carry these. The ones in my area do not but I've heard about people getting them so some stores do.
 
The SKU/tag description said 800MHz FSB and 512K cache yet the title of the SKU/tag said 2.8E and the one store that had it wouldn't sell them at the lower price because they claim that had a different SKU. Whatever...
 
Hmm, I just called yet another bestbuy and got "JUSt the CPU? We don't sell just the CPU, we only sell computers. We don't sell that type of component here, go to Tiger Direct"

While at a different BB store I noticed Prescott CPUs with clearance tags but the prices were not so good. $129.99 for a 2.4, 179.99 for a 2.6 and 199.99 for a 2.8.
 
Well, I kept calling different stores and checking the SKU. FInally came across one that actually had them and so I got one...
 
Only the stores which are classed as having the BBFB or "Best Buy for Business" sections carry processors and motherboards.

I asked them check inventory of the SKU. One store was not cooperative. The other ones that I called was nice enough to even go check the shelf to see they are there.
