Well if you are truely devoted to editing, Intel

But if you found you spending more time on other tasks, AMD

Jeez, only been gone a day and a half and this place has turned in to flame central.

For heavy duty audio and video tasks, Intel is the clear choice.

The X2 4200+ does indeed appear to have a nice P/P ratio -but- it is apparent that the EE 840 handles HEAVY simultaneous multitasking more efficiently than the X2 cores.

Also Dothan and Fatty4sku, i have a serious question for you two.

Look at my rig. I paid $140 for that CPU, and look how much performance i can squeeze out of it. Since you 2 are so pro-Intel, what would you have suggested i buy for $140 instead of my AMD?

nick1985 nevermind. Anyone with IQ >80 would be wise enough to justify which are facts and which are not.

I did suggest earlier if the computer is completely devoted to editing Intel is the better choice.
For any other circumstances AMD

AMD X2.

Been an intel user for years, and I'm sick of them. AMD is the way to go for such work.
