Hi all

Anybody have experience running a intel nuc 847 on windows?

specifically i'm looking at using it to replace one of my current XBMC HTPCs and am curious if it has enough CPU power to playback 1080p x264 content with DXVA disabled.

Got my hands on a NUC 847 today and tested out its 1080p playback capability. Should anyone else be interested here are results.

x264 encoded video in mkv container conforming to high 4.1 1080p
playback tested using XBMC internal player
bitrate 10241 average - 36615 peak

CPU no GPU acceleration - Dropped frames / choppy - not satisfactory playback

GPU acceleration under windows (dxva) - smooth playback / macroblock issue and occasional green screen - not satisfactory playback

GPU acceleration under linux (vaapi) - smooth playback / no problems - satisfactory playback
