Intel no longer supporting RDRAM... Is Rambus dead?

I picked up some RDRAM last week on the forums and then Intel accounces at the Intel Developers Conference that it is going to dual channel DDR for its servers. It looks like there will be no future support for RAMBUS in future Intel chipsets.

RAMBUS announced PC1066 last week. It promises to be soooo much faster than DDR, at a price lower than DDR. 🙁

RDRAM really is a bargain right now. Do you think that RDRAM has a future, or is it dead meat?

Also, should I keep my 512MB of PC800, or dump it on eBay as fast as I can in favor of DDR 333?

Your guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks peeps!

I dont recall it ever being alive.....unless you bought into there hype then again it you did buy into, it means bought into Intels hype about the P4......

Can you tell Im a AMD fan?

It was alive and well for a little while - and it sold for a premium once upon a time. 🙂

I heard some noise about AMD possibly using it for Clawhammer. Wouldn't that be ironic?

Isnt it alive right now? With people looking fervently for ICS P4T-Es?... but hey leave it to Intel to ditch Rambus when people are just starting to catch on. Don't you just love it when they do that. 😀

I think I'm just going to hang on to my RDRAM... with the KT400 coming out so soon, I'm not so sure that 333 will be the standard (especially if higher clock DDR's keep coming out).
