Before I comment, I want to say welcome to Anandtech zealotmaster! I hope your experience is a positive one. 🙂
i just wondering, in the procesor industry, do they make all of the component for the cpu themself?
is there any 3rd party company helping them? if not, is that kinda monopoly?
To answer your first question, Intel does fab (that is, create) all their processors in their own fabs. Of course, they have to buy the materials (like aluminum and copper) from other companies, but Intel does actually create their processors in their own fabs. Actually, this would be the perfect question for Wingznut PEZ, if he is willing to give Anandtech another shot. 🙂
Intel is a monopoly and isn't. This is a complicated question but, basically speaking, because of the commanding market share Intel has (nearly 80% of the entire processor market), some people argue that Intel is indeed a monopoly. These same people also argue that because Intel is such a powerful company with a wide range of influences, Intel can and does manipulate the processor market in a "monopolistic" fashion.
Others argue that, with recent competition from other companies (like AMD in the processor market and VIA in the chipset market) Intel is not a monopoly at all. Stiff competition from AMD and VIA, some argue, is enough to consider Intel not a monopoly.
Personally, I think Intel is just another hugely successful, influential company that is bound to get called a monopoly (just like what Microsoft is going through, although Microsoft actually has nearly 0 competition, at least in the desktop market that is).
Hope that helped. 🙂
