Intel may hand AMD their ASS.

For years I've been an AMD fan, perhaps having hope for the underdog. Word on the Intel Campus' is they're preparing the Intel Lawyers on how to argue they're not a Monopoly in the next couple years. It seems AMD, IBM and VIA just put pressure on Intel's pricing. Nothing more.

IBM was pretty much a kick in the balls for AMD. They better have some amazing architecture soon or things will look bleak. I'd hate to see them fall by the waste side.

Just my honest opinion.

AMD's next solution is something the computer industry has always adopted - backward compatibility

AMD's new hammers will be 32/64bit compatible while Intel's itanics will be only 64-bit and require new hardware/software/training...

Intel isn't a monopoly, and won't be. Neither is Microsoft, but that's a whole nother 500 threads. AMD will always be here one-upping Intel just after Intel did the same. At these speeds, I just go with what's cheaper.

But that is not a 64 bit compatible CPU, now is it? So, it is not backward compatible, it is just compatible with what it was intended for, 32 bit code..

You're an OEM end user, which is about 1% of the market. It's what the Industry and Computer Manuf adopt. IBM has jumped ship, who's next.:(

Oh, I almost forgot:
Market Cap:

Intel: 195,650M

AMD: 5,183M

Are you sure about that figure? I remember reading that the number people buying from local stores and self-building PCs was as much as 25% or so of the market. I'll see if I can find that article again.

Isn't Itanium 32-bit compatible?

Ok, then again I've been known to talk out of my own ass. Even so, 75% of the market is Computer Manuf!!!!
