Hey,

I am looking at the Dell 700m and was wondering if it is worth it to upgrade from the 1.8ghz to the 2.0ghz. It would cost about $200.

Will I gain a lot with this upgrade when compared to the cost?

Thanks.

I bought a 1.6G IBM T41 a while back and spend close to 3k on that! But it turned out 90% the usage is on battery, which defaults to 600Mhz, which is the same as a 1.3G. so depends on what you do I guess. For me the 1.6G was not worth it at all, could save myself alot money..oh well...

Well, so what do you do on your notebook?

It is highly application-dependent.

Sounds reasonable. If you do anything that you are actually waiting to end in Excel and Access, there will be noticable from getting a 12% faster CPU.

For 3D games it would be a waste.
