Intel kicks off IDF with Prestonia processors and Plumas chip set for servers

Nice! I can only wonder at the reasoning behind a 64-bit laptop processor however. With hyper-threading the Prestonia should pack a nice punch...provided that applications/operationg systems use it effectively.

DOH! I'm going blind or dyslexia has set in.

I read:

including 64-bit processors, Pentium 4-based mobile processors as

64-bit Pentium 4-based mobile processors :Q

Lol, i c.

Prestonia is unexciting, 2.2GHz tops, 512k L2 cache, SMP-enabled, SMT-enabled Xeon (P4) processor. Big wow.

Plumas is unexciting, dual-channel DDR (3.2GB/sec) on a 400fsb. Big whoopee.

10GB/sec NIC processor, now that is sorta good I guess... *yawn*

Ahem.

Dual channel PC2100 is 4.2 GB/sec. AFAIK, only the nForce delivers this much bandwidth (shared with graphics controler?)
